Jaymillia Booker (AA ’22, BA ’24)

Major: Social and Behavioral Sciences
High School: Regina Dominican, 2020
Involvements: Black Student Union (BSU) and a student worker.

Hello! My name is Jaymillia Booker. I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.

How I chose my major:
My degree is in social and behavioral sciences. Psychology has always been an interest of mine.

My plans after graduation:
I plan to continue at Loyola studying psychology.

Professor a new student should absolutely take a class with:
Dr. Cochran because he makes you feel comfortable with talking to him and being yourself inside and outside of class. He has a familiarity about him that makes you feel like you’re at home away from home. He is an excellent professor and is very understanding. Also, his classes are enjoyable.

Class I never expected to love:
I never expected to love Latino Literature, but I did! Dr. Castillanos assigned amazing books that makes you want to keep reading. The discussions we had in class were inclusive and enlightening. This class was not just all lecturing which made it even better. The students had to do some of the teaching as well!

Best thing I've done since coming to Arrupe:
Help plan and facilitate events for us students

My favorite spot on campus:
Nineth floor in Lewis Library. It has one of the best views of all buildings on WTC. It's peaceful, quiet, and you can get a lot of work done there.

Some surprisingly cool things about Arrupe:
We have great events that promote fun and togetherness.
